I read on some list somewhere about things you should do as a man. Buying a nice suit was on the list. I have to say I agree with that. I don’t have a lot of call for a nice suit, so it’s a rare experience, but I did buy one recently.
Buying a suit at a high end mens store is only partly about the clothing. It’s the whole experience really. It’s the testosterone equivalent of a woman’s spa day. The level of service and attention is what makes it.
For example I was ushered into a change room with the first set of suit pants and the salesman informed me he would go get a dress shirt for me so I see what it all looked like together. As he walked away I thought, “He forgot to ask me my size”. I have trouble finding dress shirts because I either have broad shoulders or a scrawny neck, depending on your viewpoint. He came back with a plain white dress shirt that fit me better than most I have picked out for myself.
An old fashioned shave in a barber chair with a straight razor. That was on the list too. I might have to try that.
