Starting a family

My wife, Michelle, and I decided to have a baby. That is of note because we had emphatically decided not to do that. We changed our minds, obviously, and in retrospect, the vasectomy seems a little rash.

The story starts here. We are trying invitro fertilization (IVF). We are on round number three, and have high hopes that it will work for us, but no baby yet.

The search for my dream job

I was fired from my job, which was OK because I hated it, and they gave me money to leave. I decided to to take six months off to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. That sounded lazy so I called it The Project, and that made me feel better. I did all manner of soul searching, and I think it was worth it, even though it did not wrap up into a neat package.

During my six months off the economy went entirely to shit, perhaps you’ve heard about that, which reduced my options considerably. I continue to send out resumes, look into business opportunities, and do the odd software project, but I remain unemployed and am writing this wearing my pajamas at 10 am on a weekday.

The search for my dream job is a continuing adventure. I keep my hooks in the water and have confidence that one of these nibbles will turn into a meal. I promise to tell you about my progress. I also promise that my use of terrible fishing metaphors will be limited to just that one.
