Valentine’s day is artificial. It is made up by greeting card companies and florists. It is a billion dollar industry. You really should not be taking romantic advise from any organization that ends in “Corp.” or “Inc.” or is listed on the NY stock exchange.
There are many people, mostly men, who will be standing in a store on the 14th stressed out and anxious because they know they have to get something or there is going to be trouble at home. There is nothing about that scenario that strikes me as romantic.
You absolutely should buy your loved one flowers, and take them to dinner, and wear fishnets and garters (that’s you I’m talking to ladies), but why you feel you should do it on the 14th I have no idea.
